The Closer!

Well the Ham Lake Fire is winding down. I am taking over as incident commander tomorrow morning. I tend to end up being the closer on these large incidents. This is number 3 of 4 large incidents on our district. Anyway we are down to five engines and one helocopter. I think the final tally is 133 structures lost. That's including sheds and outhouses. Around 60 were homes/cabins 10 of which were year round residents. We have gotten a little rain and things are starting to green up. We are still way behind on moisture and the lakes are extremely low.

If you enlarge this picture you can see that the flames are a home burning.

One of the developed areas within the fire.

Crossing the Gull River to reach a spot fire.

Glad the worse is over, I know you will be busy for several weeks to come, hope you can get to the lake for a break. Love Auntie Diana
