I'm Back!

Well after a long two weeks in Oregon on fires I'm made it home safely. All in all it was a good assignment. Long hours, which make for a good paycheck, and a great training opportunity since this was a training assignment. The fire ended up being about 140,000 Acres which is a lot of ground to cover and a lot of people. At the peak there were almost 2000 people assinged to the fire.
The first day the fire blew up on us. Not long after taking this picture we had to retreat to our safety zone.
This picture was taken from our safety zone. The smoke covering the sun tends to give off an eiry glow.

Burning Juniper tree along the fireline.

More resources arriving to help with a spot fire.

By the end of the 14 days it had turned into a big water show pumping over 10 miles of hose on our division alone. We mopped up 300' in around the entire perimeter.

Now after 5 days off it is back to work tomorrow. Who know's maybe back out again in a week or so....

More pictures of the fire.... http://picasaweb.google.com/plindg/EgleyComplex

Glad to have you home safe and sound. It was fun to have you be part of Reids' big day too. The firetruck was a big hit.
